I am trying to convert my amino acid results from grams of amino acids in a kilogram of my sample to milligrams of amino acids in a gram of protein.
Is there a simple way to do this?
My amino acids only seem to account for around 80% of the reported protein, likely due to non-protinaceous nitrogen in the sample - should I use this as a factor for the conversion?
I think 1 g / kg is equal to 1 mg / g
1 g = 1,000 mg, and 1 kg = 1,000 g, which makes a ratio of 1,000 mg / 1,000 g, thus 1 mg / g
Divide the amounts of amino acids by 1000 so that the result is mg/g.
I think my confusion comes from the samples being around 70% protein but I’m not sure where else the amino acids could come from in the sample.. I am assuming it should not be a straight units change. Thank you for the input though.
