My dependent variable is perceived government performance at job creation .one of the two predictor variables include perceived job performance of incumbent president and perceived corruption among government officials ..can these relationships be explained theocratically? Or in there anyway a president performance have at impact on his government performance at job creation ?.Does corruption in anyway undermine government performance at job creation?
The causal relations among the three variables are probably very complex and are not as simple as you assume. For example, perceived job performance of incumbent president not only determines perceived government performance at job creation but, vice versa, could also be determined by the latter. In other words, there may be a reverse causality problem. The same applies to corruption. You can either try to set up some structural equations to simultaneously estimate them or estimate a reduced form equation in which the explanatory variable s are all exogeneous variables.
