According to my experience in Academia, a journal volume indicates a year. For example, if a publisher started publishing articles in 2000, the volume of the journal should be 20. However, some predatory journals might publish multiple volumes in a single year.

I reviewed a manuscript from a journal indexed in Scopus and Thompson Reuters with an impact factor of 2.75. While the status of the manuscript in the system is under revision, I have got a notification of published articles in which the manuscript I reviewed is one. Although the decision is on the hands of editors, I was surprised to see the article is published.

Then, I again visited the journal. I learned that this publisher published Four volumes only in 2019. I was very confused because my previous knowledge regarding journal volume was different. Furthermore, the publisher is indexed and with a moderate impact factor.

Hence, I am requesting RG community any information or recent developments related to this issue.
