I am working on a research project to investigate the impacts of climate variability (specifically RF variability/ met. Droughts) on a forestland dominantly consisting of a single tree species. My intention is to use bias-corrected CHIRPS satellite rainfall estimate to compute SPI for monitoring meteorological droughts and to use MODIS NDVI V6 for monitoring vegetation drought, and finally to analyze the correlation between the SPI computed from the bias-corrected CHIRPS rainfall grid and the VCI (vegetation condition index) derived from the MODIS-NDVI. So, (i) would you please suggest me other data sources/ methods (if any) to realize this purpose? (ii) is there any pre-processing requirement of the MODIS-NDVI other than rescaling? (iii) please, would you provide me an article closely related to this (forest drought monitoring)?
