Has a drug that is in the testing phase for Alzheimer disease also been found to be effective in preventing dental caries? If so, by what mechanism of action?
The drug which is being used against Alzheimer Disease, must act on some "target protein", and this protein through it's modulation (upregulation or downregulation) would cure the disease.
Now, drug might probably have a skeleton structure, which also causes modulation in "target protein" having crucial role in Dental caries.
This may be the only possible explanation for drug acting against both Alzheimer and Dental caries.
