I am working on an alpha particle spectroscopy system for semiconductor detectors. The detector crystal sizes can range from 0.5 mm to several cm. I would like a complete system where I can drop a crystal into place, connect both electrodes, apply the voltage and take a measurement. Connecting the electrodes doesn't require soldering, I can touch a wire to an electrode to acquire the signal for example. The crystal "holder" that connects the electrodes for measurement is what is needed.

Has anyone built something like this before or is aware of some similar examples that may be useful. The key problem is the alpha source needs to be as close to the crystal as possible. Nearly touching the sample would be ideal.
