Solomon Awuzie No, do not come up with a new abstract. I have about five rough abstracts and drafts, plus some relevant references. Let us just read and discuss the new material here, and see which abstract I will send you and the strategy. A magazine will pay the publication fees. Have you read the material? What are the minuses and the plus? Just as Achebe & Soyinka were against Tongho'o, Wali and Obi in the 1962 Makerere conference, it is okay to be for or against Bleeding Stubs. So read it and say something here and let's brain-storm for a while. Don't worry, noone will steal our ideas. If they do, in this case they make our analysis more powerful by pulling more interest and hence funding to you and me. What is your best part in Bleeding Stubs?

I find the last sentence in Bleeding Stubs kind of dark and ominous because of how the writer puts it. Someone once told me it is not what you say that has an impact; it is HOW you say it.

Godfrey Mabunda I have read Chinua Achebe, Adichie, etc. And now, you made me read Bleeding Stubs. As a European, I really enjoy the depth and the turns that the author of Bleeding Stubs goes into, which is hard to do in a short story. And the stark deviation from African English makes the humour so relatable. I am a scientist, and this makes me want to write fiction now. Most European authors are not literature or arts graduates. Maybe I should visit Nigeria someday and get material for a story.

These topics have all be written discussed in the African writers conference in Makerere University, Kampala. All the topics have also been written about by African writers and scholars like Ngugi wa Thiong'o and Isidore Diala. Come up with another topic please.

Solomon Awuzie That is not true. The topic has been touched on but not solved. They also did not mention that our Fathers of Modern African Literature (Achebe, etc) were not really good at English. These are hard topics. I am sure you have not read the Theiongo debates. I read them all. Give ideas and stop being dismissive of my efforts.

Hi Solomon Awuzie What do you refer to by 'these topics'? Can you do the following things chronologically in one response:

1. Be specific as to the point you are refuting.

2. State the article and journal where the point was discussed

3. State the solution arrived at

4. Give examples of authors who have implemented the solution.

Dr Solomon Awuzie gave a backhanded response. You can do better. It is your continent we are talking about, and only you can fix it.
