Anyone encounter spreader colonies during the testing of aerobic plate count? If yes, anyone can suggest how to avoid or reduce the spreader colonies.
My sample mostly is milk powder and sometimes the plate is difficult to read due to cloudiness of the plate. My question what is the reason that attributed to the cloudy plate? Anyone come across this scenario before.

- check the sterile condition (bench, LAF, method, etc)
- check the surface of the agar (is it contains drop of condensed water)
- if there are no condensed water and the collony remains spreader, reduce the drop (1 mL -> 0.1 mL)
