Hello - I am trying to attach collagen fibrils (collected tendons in vivo from rats/mice, performed a trypsin-based or mechanical extraction to get only free fibrils) to a gold surface of a QCM sensor, similar to the gold surface of SPR. I have tried a bare gold surface and thiol-coated gold surface, and can't get the drop-casted collagen to adhere. Any suggestions on how to properly bind?

Emily Schafer Hi, gold surfaces do not bind proteins easily. Thiol coated gold surfaces are only good for covalent protein conjugation if the thiol has another functional group.
I have used L-cysteine to coat gold surfaces and EDC chemistry to conjugate the cysteine -NH2 groups to the collagen -COOH.
