if take as whole compound of amino acid compared to pure and simple acids / amine, the acidity / basicity will be less compared to corboxylic acid / amine (as the compound forms zwitterion and the pH~ 7). if you want to compare acidity / basicity of the functional group compared to functional group of pure acids, the amino acid functional groups are stronger in acidity/ basicity.
because amino acid is having both proton donating group (-COOH) and proton taking/ attracting group(-NH2), it will transfer proton (in water solution), to form a stable zwitterion and the pH goes to about 7.
