Acetonitrile Precipitation and serum...why is color constituents of serum concentrated in bottom phase of acetonitrile crash system?

I am precipitating serum under different pH conditions (acidic, neutral, alkaline). At extreme alkaline conditions two-phase aqueous systems form where the intense yellow color of serum is concentrated in the bottom aqueous phase.

Does anyone know why that is?
