Maybe the unit should be %, not g/kg (which means 1/1000)! The organic carbon content of peat ranges 18–58% (Agus, Hairiah, et al. 2010) for peatlands, but by implementing these datasets in my case study, I reached 11 gr/kg which means 1.1%! Can you please help me to probe this matter?
Historically organic C was presented in %. However, modern data are usually preferred in SI units, e.g., g kg-1. I'm unsure about the following question but note that many Australian soils contain 10 g of OC kg-1 or less.
Yes, but per kg is the most useful unit because you can convert it to % easily, but not the other way around. In other words, g per kg contains both the weight and percentage, by conversion :)

Yes, that's why if you report g per kg, direct comparisons can be made and % can also be calculated. But don't worry about others' results. Yours are the most important hehe :)
