Conference are a great way to interest with fellow academics particularly for novice researchers: There has been discussion on predatory journals, however not much is said about conferences. There are many conferences that are available on the internet.

This is a good question.
High-level professional conferences are frequently associated with a well-regarded professional organization, one that may have a long history. The cost of attending can be high, but not exorbitant. There may be small stipends to help students attend. There is frequently an open-call for presentations, which are refereed and may or may not be accepted.
"Predatory" conferences tend to have very high registration fees and may also require you to join the sponsoring organization. The conference is often held in some exotic or exclusive locale, where lodging and food can be very expensive. The sponsoring organization may lack the quality of a high-level professional organization. It is usually easier to have a presentation accepted. Sometimes these conferences publish a book of the proceedings and charge the authors a high publication fee.

All conferences are unreliable since the information is not peer reviewed. All conferences are predatory since you greatly risk your information being stolen. Keep all your data confidential, even from supervisors if possible, until it is finally published in an excellent peer reviewed journal :)
