I have 2 questions in Abaqus:
1- What is the unit for "elastic foundation" in Abaqus? The CAE requires stiffness per area, however this is not clear for me. Think our elastic space is Steel with E=210Gpa and we have a pin with 4mm diameter with the height of 10mm in that elastic space(Steel). How the value is calculated?
2-In the property module, when we are defining damage evolution in sub-option editor, what is the unit for fracture energy? and what is fracture energy? (It is said in help that the fracture energy is G, and from the Fracture Mechanics we know that G=(Kic^2)/E. Kic for steel is 50Mpa.SqrM. when I calculate, I find (50^2)/210000 = 11904.76 N/m or J/(m^2). But Abaqus uses 42200 in its examples)

1. I think that elastic foundation is similar to Winkler foundation, and stiffness per area unit is F L-3 for surface.
2. I agree that the fracture energy is G. It should be noted that for different steels, the value of Kic can differ by two or more times (i.e. G can differ by four or more times).

I don't agree that Elastic Foundation is similar to Winkler Foundation instead they are totally different Models please have a look at the following attached document or image, also the unit is explained here.

In abaqus, unsupported 3D beam lieing on elastic foundation and loaded by uniform pressure does not bend.There are only uniform deflections as if foundation is Winkler one.
