In India, there are very few posts for an Agriculture extension in the job vacancies of any Agriculture related Institution,?? I believe in Extension graduates that perform better, but why this trend is there in all projects of SAUs(State Agricultural universities), few Universities abolished SMS(Extn) posts in KVKs, where the Extension personnel work is Very much essential, no recruitments for the extension department since from 15-20 years in many colleges even after it's a requirement.
We are not getting that who are the persons created this trend, why the department is losing its importance, who are responsible for this trend over a period of time.
We all extension students should fight for the Extension department's sustainable growth or better close the same if it is not required because the mere existence of the department spoils the student's life who opt for it.
What about the future of Agricultural Extension graduates? There is the biggest question mark? I have one question which was pounding inside my heart many times? Whether students blame their abilities or the limited scope of the subject but anyway, one thing am sure about, the student life is going to be spoiled.
I will warn future students those who are want to study the Agricultural Extension is your favorite subject, Please go through your idea about the subject scope and importance.

Agricultural Extension is a very much important subject. The extensionists play a significant role in technology adoption by the farmers. For proper agricultural development of an agro-based country, must need a strong relationship among Research, Extension, and farmers. Then the newly developed promising technologies will reach the farmers rapidly. Farmers can observe, verify accept it upon getting the benefit. Researchers are few but extensionists should more in number those have to works at the doorsteps of million of the farmer in an Agro-based country. So, need more extensionist compared to the researchers.
This has been an important question from extension professionals alike. Part of these problems will be solved if extension curricula are extended to include latest technology of information dissemination and subject matter diversification from other agricultural discplines. More specialised expertise may also be needed, acquired at postgraduate level rather than just undergrad. Extension activities will still be needed irrespective of tech development but practiced differently.

It is true that extension is very much crucial for creating trust and faith not only in technologies, techniques and innovations essential for agricultural development but also among stake holders. So lacking in dedication and commitment to fulfil the objective as well protection of profession by predecessors is really matter of concern but it can be regained through sincere efforts by mentors in the subject for producing professional stuff as well as seers on administrative posts of ICAR and SAUs saving the posts and formulating policies for imbibe the same.

From government's perspective, Agricultural Extension graduates are policy makers who can formulate the proper and advanced agri-policy in a bid to facilitate the development of agriculture. Form the view of point of academic, Agricultural Extension graduates are researchers, professors and doctors who do researches regarding seed, plant model, soil, bio-fertilizer etc. From the manager or administrative perspective, Agricultural Extension graduates are the agri-enterprise managers and rural administrative who devoted themselves to achieve the rural revitalization and poverty alleviation which is extremely significant for small-holder farmers in rural area.
