We are working in the field of mycology since 1973 and and published sevearl research papers on Aspergillus and Candida. However, I could not get any opportunity to work on the molecular detection of both the opportunistic fungal pathogens.
We have developed Pal sunflower seed medium in 1980 for the isolation and presumptive identification of Cryptococcus neoformans.However, we have used this medium for the isolation of other fungi, such as Candida albicans, C.tropicalis, Geotrichum candidum, Rhototorula glutinis, Aspergillus fumigatus and other Aspergillus species etc. from clinical as well as environmental specimens.
