i have used an observation checklist to distinguish the behavior between the two groups say an experimental (n=5 )and a control group(n=5) in terms of reflection; they were selected randomly from 30 participants in ex and cont group each.? i wonder if it is valid or if it i sufficient to report the results quantitatively?

All is well; however, the number of participants is not. Observation is an interventionist research focusing on particular behaviors evoked by specific methods of intervention. Based on observation data, you are about to proclaim a prediction according to the observed variance between the two groups. Therefore, you are initiating an experimental design involving a comparison. However, you need to increase the number of sample populations to ensure generalizability.

Not my area, but agreed that it is unlikely that 5 observations each would tell you what you want to know. I expect that that would only happen if the two "groups" were so different that this would already be known.
Sample sizes and standard deviations are both of importance.
