There are several papers are published with collaboration containing new concepts. Credit goes to all. But it does not happen. For this reason, I need clarification from various research scholars.
In such a case, the credit goes to all the authors for introducing the concept. However, there are some conventions concerning intext citation:
1. For one or two authors, all names are written/mentioned.
2. For three or more authors, only the first author is written/mentioned with "et al."
As you know, the definition is due to all authors of the psper. In a joint paper every thing is joint. But if such a thing is important for someone, he/she can ask the authors (if at least one of them is alive!) about it!
It is very difficult to decide. In general, we follow alphabetical ordering by last name.
Assign credit to the paper or the whole group of authors, not any individual.
