They make grammar, tense, punctuation related errors and some errors due to first language interference.

1. Subject-Verb agreement.

2. The more they write, the more mistakes they make.

3. They need to be taught on how to write concisely.

I believe that synthetizing writing approaches can really make a difference . Approaches like process genre based framework is a very good example.

Here are a few observations of my Korean university students:

- TOEIC vocabulary and stock expressions, but often used out of/in the wrong context

- major L1 interference with sentence structures (students think it's rude to write directly)

- difficulty with complex or layered written instructions
