Wrt BLDC driven EV, will the motor controller restrict the mileage of vehicle no matter what capacity of Battery pack is kept??

We trialed with 1000W BLDC motor driven vehicle 60V topology,

We attained 55-60km range for 50Ah battery but with a change of battery pack to 75Ah we got 70-72km only with same test conditions.

Is there any action of motor controller in this respect?

What may the possible cause of such an effect?
