Dear Dr. Sathish Abraham, I agree with you , but it seems that Carbopol is being used in many scientific protocols as it is able to create a demineralisation depth similar to those of early caries lesions.

A lot depends on what you wish to study. Cycling methods give the net result of de- and re-mineralizing stages. If you apply a treatment, it is often not possible to determine whether it affects lesion formation by its action on demineralization or its action on remineralization, so it might be necessary to run further experiments to discriminate between these possibilities. Gel methods such as carbopol are fine for studying demineralization and the conditions (acid type and concentration, pH) can be adjusted at will. However, gel methods for demineralization are difficult to incorporate into cycling methods because of the gel sticking to the tooth surface.
