Citizenship education aims to instill skills, values and positive attitudes into students for them to be functional and responsible citizens/individuals. So, I just wonder if these aims can be achieved using a theme and drawing on a single subject. Thanks.
In Italy social competence and civic competence is considered a cross . It is certified at the end of primary school. Teachers keep it in the course of disciplinary activities . The privileged material for the development of this competence is history.

Using an individual skill set of information limits the student's learning of the "why" when teaching students citizenship. Citizenship in the United States requires the knowledge of all historical iformation to be completely engaged when learnking.
I would suggest a multi-disciplinary approach since our students learn differently and you would want to appeal to all of your students not just some.
Citizenship Education is better captured in many subjects through different themes concerning human duties, obligations and responsibilities for good leadership and followership.
