Would you share your personal experience with predatory journals?
I am aware of Beall's List (https://scholarlyoa.com/individual-journals/), but I would like to know the personal experience of colleagues who are published in such journals.
Could you indicate the titles of such journals.

Radoslava - my personal experience may not be that exciting. I have never had a personal experience - and that may well be because I've been publishing for some time now and have the experience to know what a predatory journal looks like. A personal observation is that predatory journals are easy enough to avoid if you pay attention to the warning signs.
I would argue that you should always be wary of any journal that approaches you - rather than the other way around. The same is true for any journal that has no credible background i.e. Impact Factor, citation rate etc. If the editor, editorial board are not well known academics in the proposed field - that should be another warning sign. If (let's assume that the journal publishes in English) that the English language instruction, scope etc is poor - that is another sign. This is not an exhaustive list but, perhaps an important 'red flag' is 'is the journal asking for money up-front before anything has happened?'

Thanks, Dean, this is a good starting point to be careful for that where we will publish our studies.
I agree with Dean, as I have never published in one. As a rule of thumb, if someone approaches me (asking me to submit in a journal, speak at a conference, whatever), and neither the person nor the journal/conference is a name that I already recognize in my field, I ignore it. (There are some other warning signs that sound snooty but in my experience have a pretty high accuracy rate---for example, if the e-mail message is full of bright colors and 1990s-style html, that often signals that it's a junk journal.)

In the Editorial members of predatory journals you will find many hi-fi names. Many of the names are put without proper consent. In subsequent issues you will find that most of the names have been removed because they have received intimations from the concerned scientists to immediately remove their names.
