I am compiling a paper on Breadfruit Revitalization in the Marquesas, based on my earlier work on Breadfruit in the Pacific - and recent observations about the support for Breadfruit as a local food stuff. The argument for local foods as a substitute for imported foodstuffs raises questions about the place of breadfruit in such 'revitalization' projects.

I'm not working on breadfruit any more, but there's a young Hawaiian researcher named Noa Lincoln at the University of Hawai'i who's been doing very interesting work promoting breadfruit and its cultivation in Hawai'i and the Pacific, including horticultural research into best practices, best varieties under different conditions, etc. If you send me your email address, with your question again, I'll forward it to him and hopefully he'll answer you. Thank yo for that information. I am looking for an earlier paper on Breadfruit that I found listed under your name - so was asking for a copy of the paper entitled Hawaiian breadfruit ethnobotany, nutrition and human ecology. The paper is listed as a joint publication with Michael Jones, Charles Tichenal, and Alvin Huang. Published in CTAgriculture and Human research.

Also I am trying to track down an email address for a gentleman I met in Hiva Oa, Marquesas who is running an important Botanical Garden there - he was formerly Mayor - Lyons is the only name I caught.I presume he is under the auspices of a French botanical organisation. He is very enthusiastic about re vitalizing former plant species that Marquesans used. Do you know how I can reach him?
