Unfortunately, I can not hand over a monograph for drainage in mining. First, you should distinguish between open pit and underground mining. With both it is possible that you can dewater the rock body around the claim, mostly with a lowering the water level, before the workings starts. To avoid a large extent the risks of ingress water and landslides, both in open pit underground mining, is suitable the benching. In underground mining can be used also in not safe zones shild driving machines. However, everything depends from the in situ conditions and can not be a flat rate. The mining in such areas must be accompanied by extensive monitoring and security measures to prevent accidents. However, completely one can never eliminate the risk.
