Laurin was was my office mate and team researcher on Loblolly and slash pine plantations. I did the dry matter production work ( Ecol. Monographs, 1973). He did the "mineral cycling." While the work didn't seem to show much about Fluorine influence, as I recall, there is a huge amount of data.

Question is not clear. However, fluorine is a gas and its association with calcium may form calcium fluorite. Usually with cations it makes fluorides.Fluorine affinity is more with calcium with compare to magnesium and potassium.
The question of of usefulness is directed at the project Director for this mineral depletion study. I suspect everyone on this site knows abot Fluorine .
