I have to do a acid treatment to quantify lignin in a lignocellulosic material but I don't know what glass material I can use. I don't have pressure tubes with Teflon caps. Can I use a pyrex glass bottle with polypropylene cap?
Judging from the stage of the lignin analysis you described, I believe you are using some of the NREL procedures. Well, I also use this method as one of the forms of lignin analysis in my laboratory, and this step is done in 100 ml glass jars with a rubber cap and aluminum seal, like these jars used for penicillin. This material is placed in the autoclave without any problem. Hope this helps.
