Currently, COVID-19 has caused the most turbulent times in the history of global epidemics and is virtually forcing many people to an uneasy "sit-at-home" in many parts of the world. Will the scientific community, especially publishing houses, going to share from these impacts and particularly affect peer-review processes?

Ighalo As you experienced, I just saw a submission page now displayed with a similar message to calm their prospective authors, but I had thought only public health-related could be affected possibly due to the fact that their reviewers and some other staff might be away for response operations.
Yes, coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic will impact peer-review process because this deadly infectious disease has almost halted the entire world.
I think that reviewers should take the lockdown, closure of institutions, to tidy up (speed) the review process.
Adasa Nkrumah what a good thought! But there are definitely divergent opinions on this. Unlike your opinion, or rather from an excuse I had privy to, the staff may not have access to facilities required to aid the processes when there is lockdown. In another way, some fields that demand the services of experts who might busy working to facilitate this job done are far away on the rescue mission for patients in crisis. Some have no access to do anything.
Possible, but some will have double efficiency increasing their put and publish rapidly, esp the public health journals. This is as such in marketing transaction when demand shoots up. Papers coming out of COVID-19 are definitely hot and will attracts citations, thus it will increase their impact factor. Even if working from home is the only solution, I am sure this type of journal won't reduce efficiency.
Analogously,it has been paralyzing all vigorous aspects of our life.
From the editorial to reviewer desks, the delay may not be felt too much but the feedback to the reviewer is much hampered. Also, from the editorial to the publisher, the operation is vastly delayed and a heap of reviewed articles piled at the production stage. What we see much here now is PREPRINT everywhere, a possible indication of a delayed review process.

In a way, it is going to hamper the review and editorial process. However, in most cases, the job is done from home. Still directly or indirectly the whole editorial process is taking time more than usual what it takes to complete the same. I found two types of process; if the paper is based on COVID study the publishers are processing the same under fast track basis in comparison to non-COVID based papers.

Why should we have a delay in the reviewing process? This is also my question as the people stay at home and have more time to do the review.
Shahabaldin Rezania good thought, but most times we are not equally equipped at home to shoulder the responsibility. Also, some staff are busy in the containment operation against the pandemic.
Sule Akkoyunlu thumb-up! It is true, journals like MDPI and others such as Excli, yet they are not mostly public health related which could impact their speed owing to the availability of their reviewers and the editors, among others, who may have roles to play elsewhere.
Yes, it really affects the peer review process for other fields not related to COVID_19. At the moment, we have seen that most journal outlets have concentrated their efforts on publishing COVID-19 related articles. We have close to 48,000 papers as displayed on the researchgate homepage. Definitely, some people reviewed those articles.

We have personally experienced seven months delay in even initiating peer-review process in a certain journal during this pandemic but it may not be a generalization and may vary from journal to journal.
Definitely agree with you. I've submitted my paper to the Renewable Energy Journal on June 6th, after more than 45 days it is still with editor. I cannot understand how Coronavirous pandemic affected the review time? It seems to me that, reviewers will have more free time to review.
My personal bad experience with our submission which is still awaiting editorial attention since January 2020, I wonder if its is due to Covid impact or editor has some other type of impact problem.
Indeed it seems to have a huge impact in peer review process. Some of my articles submitted to Journals are still awaiting the Editor's response, it says its 'with Editor' for more then 3 months.
