I used a CTD sensor to measure chlorophyll concentration in Tremblay Sound, Nunavut Canada (Arctic), but obtained some negative chlorophyll concentration values. I've looked into this issue and other research papers consider this to be a bug in the sensor. Would there be any other explanation for this?

Generically speaking any sensor who's calibration has shifted due to any reason will show you erratic results similar to what you have obtained. Apart from that even if the sensors are giving reasonably decent values of the measured parameters, the conversion process of detected analog signal to digital signal for further processing could also have got corrupted (bug) to give you such outputs.

Generally sensors are very sensitive to changes. CTD sensors produces accurate values either positive or nagative.
