Generally in wastewater treatment plants, we find a slight increase in ammonia nitrogen for treated water compared to raw water, because of the continuous transformation of nitrogenous organic matter into ammoniacal nitrogen by the ammonification process also by the conversion of nitrates to ammonium under anaerobic conditions.
My question is :
What is the explanation in the case where there is a lowering of the ammonia nitrogen values in the treated water or by oscillating curve according to the seasons or the months between the increase and the decrease?

nitrogen elimination ranged between 50% for nitrite and 82.6% for ammonia.
Ammonia/ammonium concentration is pH dependent. When pH increase, ammonium is converted into ammonia gas and get release.
If you give pH data of WWTP, the situation will become more clear.
I would expect that temperature variations and variation in MLSS concentration in your reactor will allow that you get partial Nitrification starting i.e. at higher MLSS concentrations an higher temperatures combined with lower loadings that will allow to have enough Oxygen in the system that Nitrifaction can start. Is this the case you should normally see NO3-N or NO2-N going up when NH4-N goes down.
Note that MLSS production (growing bugs) takes up nitrogen. I believe the bacteria are about 14 wt% nitrogen. So if you have limited total organic or ammonia nitrogen in the influent with a high enough overall BOD there can be a net loss of ammonia nitrogen. This situation is highly unlikely in a POTW but can occur in isolated industrial treatment. I actually worked in a plant where we added organic load to reduce NH3 because we had difficulty maintaining the biological nitrification

I guess the nitration may be happening, you should check the parameters of bioreactor, and to improve .
