I am trying to do a dynamic explicit analysis where I defined a spring (from engineering features > springs dashpots) between two plates. I placed two reference points at the centers of the plates, and placed the spring between those reference points. Then I defined another plate, which is rigid. Then I defined an instantenaous velocity for the rigid plate to squeeze the plates and the spring. The problem is the spring is not working at all. While the plates go down and squeezed, the spring stays same and does not get compressed. What am I doing wrong or what should I do to correct this?

from your description it appears your spring is not connected to plates, so it wont work
How can I connect them? I tied spring's ending and beginning points to the plates, so when the plate moves spring's starting and ending point also moves. But still it is not acting like spring. It just stays there and not absorbing any energy.
Yes, as Dr. Kumar have already commented, the spring may be not attached properly to the plates. To understand why it happened, I suggest a simpler test. Try two plates and connected by the spring, without the third rigid plate
I tried some static analyses to see if the spring works. I gave displacement to the plate and measured the reaction force Displacement and reaction force results are consistent with my equivalent k value, so I can say that it works fine for static analyses. But still cant solve the dynamic analyses.
Aren, put a point mass between the two springs, instead of the rigid plate, and check the dynamics
