In a seed mediated process or two steps synthetic approach using Au NPs as seeds, it has been found that Pd forms ideal shell on Au core. But Pt NPs at the exterior of Au core are present as spongy nature. Pt NPs are rather deposited on Au instead of their layer by layer growth like Pd case. This observation is found in most of the cases. Is there any specific reason for such phenomenon?
