Hello everyone. I am a fresh Ph.D. candidate who studies Mie resonators.
I am confused about the discrepancy between the measurement and simulated spectra. In the simulation, the reflectivity of the electric dipole (ED) and the magnetic dipole (MD) modes is approaching 1. Nevertheless, the measured spectrum merely shows good agreement for the MD mode. There is a large discrepancy for the ED mode as shown in the following figure.
Since most of the papers only show the simulated results, I still cannot find a paper which discusses the situation till now except Parikshit Moitra's paper.
"Moitra, Parikshit, et al. "Large-scale all-dielectric metamaterial perfect reflectors." ACS Photonics 2.6 (2015): 692-698. "
They mentioned that the electric mode leaks into the region between Mie resonators. They increased the height (aspect ratio) of the Mie resonators and achieved good agreement between the simulations and experiments in their paper.
As a noob, I think the E field of the ED modes is always partially outside the Mie resonator no matter what the aspect ratio of the Mie resonators.
So, could you please inform me of any papers which may solve my problem or briefly describe the mechanism of the difference between the measurement and experiment results?
I am appreciated if you could give me some suggestions.
Thank you very much.
