I am currently working on a MTBE synthesis by reactive distillation. In steady state everything is fine but when i am doing it in aspen dynamics then i am using 4 controllers but on giving the disturbence in methanol feed temperature purity which is MTBE is decreases. I am not able to understand why it,s happen.
You can look into following clues, I am afraid whether it will be helpful for you!
Sensitivity Analysis of location of measuring element such as location of bottom temperature point, location of analyser etc.
Tuning parameters of controller, stability of controller etc.
How much does the purity decrease? If it is a small amount it could just be a matter of changing convergence criteria (tighter tolerance)

That is a huge decrease! I suspect you have a hidden "recycle" in your system that is set up in way that it is continually added and dilutess everything else more eaxh iteration. Is there a single component that is dilutinng everything else? If so try to trace where that material is coming from and make sure it isn't set up in a way that it is added again during every iteration.
