I think the major reason is that it is complex in nature. Also, teachers are paid less by educational institutions.

Prof M M Joshi , Professor of Physics in Allahabad University who became Minister of Human Resource Development, Government of India during 1998 – 2004, had made sweeping reforms in pay structure for all teachers from nursery to highest level of education in the country.

A similar action to be taken by most of the countries to bring pay parity within the country’s social system.

Can anybody translate Prof André Valério Salles view points to English language ?

Before I retired from being a nurse practitioner for bladder and bowel health, I used to have a varied role. I used to see people on my caseload, but another facet was teaching. It was to student nurses, nurses or carers on the community. Or to people from my caseload who attended my 'self-help' group. This gave me variety and I got the impression that those who I taught found my presentations worthwhile. And after gaining my PhD, I used to speak at conferences to disseminate my findings. This, I feel, is another form of teaching, as such. So, as part of my role, I felt that teaching was one part of my role that I really liked. Along with the other things that I did. Before I retired, the University of Hull (England) used to pay my manager to cover the time that I was not working for the NHS and I taught about my subjects to Hull University. Which I also enjoyed.

You have set a standard for “passion for teaching”. In present global scenario knowledge sharing is an important task for development of global society.

I am delighted that teaching profession has been given importance. This trend will help in overall development of the country.

Knowledge sharing is an important international activity.

Because in most countries, teachers are not supported financially well

I cannot say with certainty what happens in other countries, but in Greece it certainly has to do with employeability. In the past, there where years when there was huge shortage of teachers and Education University departments where very popular. There was high demand for people to study this field.

This stopped abruply with the credit cruch and the memorandum imposed. After the quarantine, apointments of teachers as permament employees started again and the demand for the occupation might raise slightly.

There is acute shortage of good and dedicated teachers across the globe. Senior professors trying to attract good students for combined postgraduate + PhD courses with scholarship.

I thought of sharing my views with all members of ResearchGate.

1) The returns to an individual, community or even a nation from education take a long time to appear. While education is a worthy investment, it is not a quick one. These returns are not just spread over time, but also over many individuals. Thus, it will always be difficult to pay educators what they worth—or anywhere near what they are worth.

2) As a population gets more educated and there are other many other accessible options for the most academically able students. it becomes easy for the other educated professional to look down on teachers. Of course, they only understand teaching through the eyes of their own experiences—when they were children. The various skills, knowledge and dispositions put to work are so easy for a child to take for granted, and it is unlikely for adults to learn better. Thus, the lack of true/deep respect that other professionals have for teachers makes it a less attractive profession for the academically talented.

3) Empathy—often confused with sympathy—is a critical component to teaching. That is, excellent teachers must understand how their students are thinking so that they can offer instructional interventions to help them to get past their mistakes and misunderstanding. This is a so-called "soft skill," but nonetheless a quite difficult one at which few people excel. However, because so many people confuse it for sympathy (i.e., feeling bad for someone else), those who lack this skill mistake the need for teacher insight with an essential softness (i.e., lack of professional rigor). Thus, In an era when mere kindness for others has fallen out of vogue, so many believe that teaching is little more than babysitting.
