I have a couple of citations on one of my papers shown in my google scholar profile, but they are not mentioned in the Research Gate profile. Some of the authors who cited my research paper are mentioned on Research Gate but not on google scholar why is that so.
Each database has its own criteria in citation measurement and which journals they consider. The same applies for Scopus and WoS.
The two databases are working independently. The RG recognizes citations from the full-text of publication.
If the journal is not open access, the citations may not appears in the RG but it may exist in Google scholars.
It is probably because some journals are not listed in Google scholar, and some authors are not aware or do not use the research gate.
Google scholar indexing can track almost all citations from the internet, but in RG platform, citations are shown if authors have uploaded their work. However, RG can track citations from the open access journal without any uploading.
Dear Hadi Khan when comparing the citation counts on RG, Scopus, and Google Scholar you normally find that the citation counts are often highest on Google Scholar. To my knowledge the main reason is that Google Scholar counts more citations in books and book chapters than the other databases. For more information please see this useful article entitled
