Because being a tour guide is one part of the career in tourism industry. The other roles are being tour leader and tour planner. Both of them need higher qualification and experience.

Thank you dear Thomas for your comments. Do you think young people will participate guided tours in the coming years? In Turkey, different types of schools organize tours for students, and these tours are to be guided by official tour guides who are registered to professional chambers of tour guiding. It seems young people needs financial support to participate in this type of tours. Put aside their financial limitations, youngsters seems very eager to join guided tours.

I think, young people eagerness to join the guided tours should be searched first. Because I observe that some young people do not want to be guided within a tour. They look like they do not want to be restricted on a tour route determined beforehand. These are just my observation. Maybe there are studies that assert the eagerness of youngsters to join guided tours.

If guided tours are at the highest quality, I think that many guided tours should be included in teaching of some subjects. The big challenge is to secure that payments of tours is at affordable costs. Teaching should both include theory and participation in actual tours. If participation also is a real part of studies, and the students are educated in evaluation of these real tours, and to discus these within a cource framework that is far better than just having lectures.

To challenge student to orepare their own guided tours as for example summer jobs, is also a good way of learning.
