I have a dataset contains hourly PM10 concentrations for 1 hour of 83 sites. . I want to plot semi-variogram for this dataset then subsequent ordinary kriging analysis and cross validation.

As far as I know, for ordinary kriging analysis/plotting variogram , dataset should follow normal distribution. Am I right?

If I am right then Why actually being in normal distribution of dataset is important for variogram plotting/ ordinary kriging ? and How much important it is?

[I know very little about statistics. could you please explain in details regarding my question. Also some useful references/papers would be appreciated]
