Respected Sir, for me, role of creativity, aesthetic sense is vital part of learning and why our academic world kills creativity from our early years to adult learning.

It's an interesting observation. I am wondering if cost might also play a part. I do believe I have seen colored ones but very few.

Now, Cost can be one of the barrier.

if we say that Creativity in sciences is more of internal thing and it does not need to be colorful; sciences are very much related to human beings. If human beings do not want colors then this world must be without colors and it should be black and white but you see nature is full of beautiful colors, color of sky, color of flowers, color of grass, color of ocean's water and list is endless.

If something is being followed for centuries, do we have any evidence that people want it to be remain that way? if not, then why we are not trying to change it. Because, we think that sciences and intelligence and scholarly work and being a researcher do not need colors; and some fancy format does not need to be there, but simple colors; if cost is such a big barrier then at least soft copies could be in colorful format that I think it does not need any cost(if I am not wrong).

These are my opinions and I agree to that others might not feel the need to have change in that thing.

We are discussing this very topic right now in a Lit. Rev. class I am taking for my dissertation. The professors made a few comments regarding the publishability of the work. B&W is the preferred format, and even grayscale should be avoided due to the broad variety of printer qualities. Another variable was the antiquated academic view that color confuses and devalues the content.

Using relevant cotext to clarify and facilitate the readers' interpretation of the intended message plays a key role in text production. Therefore, as you are suggesting, using colorful pictures can even be advantageous in certain publications like language course books. However, the thesis and/ or dissertation genre ,most often but not always, employ the traditional methods of text creation without using colorful cotext. Of course dissertations on medical subjects commonly make use of vivid pictures of human anatomy as a whole.

Question is how color devalues content, then the text books and scholarly articles that use colors are having devalued content, do we have evidence?

My question is the same, why we are following traditional methods?; is there evidence that it is more preferable form of text creation? or nobody feel the need to question tradition or do not want to change tradition.

It's probably due to the high cost of publication as some students are asked to present six copies of their thesis to be stocked in the various libraries in an institution.

However, coloured writr-ups are interesting and inviting. Therefore, I support the proposition for students to submit electronic versions of their thesis so that we would see the colours.

Yes, I have dealt with endless papers in black and white longing for something, anything to break the monotony. Still, a paper with lively ideas can overcome the textual blandness.

(I use colour all the time-without any known complaints).

Colourful hard copies mean extra cost, may be for three to five copies. So students avoid but a thesis with colour is definitely attractive

It seems to me that it's conventional rather than scientific. Nowadays, many theses in certain fields need to be colorful to make them more creative and meaningful.
