I have faced a problem regarding the thickness of copper layer. I have designed a feed network (100 ohm) in RO3010 (permittivity 10.2) at 865 MHz. At first it was designed by 35 um thickness of copper. Due to manufacturing limitation, I had to change the thickness of copper.
When I changed the thickness of copper layer then it showed completly different reflection loss.
At 865 MHz, the skin effect is 2.22 um . As far i know thar I have to take 3 times thicker than skin effect. But, at 18 um copper thickness, my result was not satisfactory at all.
It would be great if you can give me a suggestion about this issue

The skin effect or the penetration factor is inversely proportional to the conductivity, so it is independent of the thickness of the copper.
But to better clarify the trucks, it is better to consult the wheeler synthesis for planar technology.

I have find out the reason. It was my designing mistake, nothing technical. Actually it should not be an influential parameter as 18 um copper thickness is also 8 times higher than skin effect of copper at 865 MHz. That is why, i was super surprised.
Also in these designs, the best practice is to take copper layer as sheet which gives faster simulation result, then provide thickness to the sheet. Copper thickness at low frequency like 865GHz in your case should not affect the simulation result even if it is taken less like 18 micrometer.
Anyway, good luck with you findings...
Your issue might be a complete lack of education in the field microwave circuit design (?)
The skin depth in cooper at 1 Ghz is about 2 micron thus your layer thickness is still well above 3 skindepth at 870 MHz. Basically there should be not significant difference there 18 and 35 micron material thickness.I guess its a numerical issue (mesh size or similar)
Probably something wrong with the connector mount or measurement setup. 18 to 35 um should make no discernable difference at this low frequency.
I have not seen such an effect in simulations. Are you sure about the design?
Check your units, Debraj; maybe you changed from 35um to 18m instead of 18um...
