This kit based protocol says about reduction and alkylation of protein prior to acetone precipitation step,

Reduction and alkylation basically leads to unfolding of the protein chain.

And acetone precipitation if done after this will ultimately lead to protein aggregation back again, so why there is need to carry out precipitation later on, since in usual protocol it is done initially followed by reduction and alkylation?

Any suggestion would be appreciated.
