Why Ph.D. degree is more important than research work?

Some people do research work in order to get a degree like Ph.D. which is not a good sign for advanced technology. Why they are doing this do you feel that? What is the reason?

Most people joining a PhD program have no particular ideas for research. It’s not at all a requirement. This is because a PhD is not about having a brilliant idea , it’s about the hard work of proving it works
