Orobanche are parasitic harbaceous plant species (about 200 species), as they have no chlorophyll, they are totally dependent on other (host) plants for nutrients. Under fertile condition, due to greater resistance from host plants as well as absence of GS activity as mentioned by Dr. Sunil resulted their poor growth. In dry land soil they are more abundance due to the poor fertility of the soil resulted weak performance of the host plants and make them more active for nutrient extraction from the host.
