What is the size of your file? Recently a user found that there is a size limit of about 80 MB for uploading. Perhaps this can explain your problem. You may try to reduce the size of the file using PDF software.

The size of this PDF file in question on my PC is only 12.6 MB, although I don't know how large it is being stored within ResearchGate - likely not much different. Anyway, I don't have an Adobe PDF editor. I think there might be another factor. I suppose I could have a colleague request it now as a test. How about you?? Thanks -- Peter Messer

Officially the limit is 80M as Wolfgang R. Dick stated.

It might not match the actual limits or space it taken.

One thing you can do is to use software size sensitive like LaTeX for text ipe for images and reduce the size of your file. There might even better app to do it.

In any case comparable books to my book are about 60M-150M (vs 8M) . It give you the indication what can be done.

Thank you Genick for trying, but your reply does not appear to be help in this case. Like I said, I had no trouble sending various people the same paper via ResearchGate about a year ago. Maybe it's a new problem about the identities of the people requesting the article. I think I'll ask one of my academic colleagues to request the article as a test case. We shall see what happens. I got a message that it is too large. I think that is was about 40M

I wonder is the file really have to be so large?

What you have in the file that make so large?

I wonder if you use a bloat software like Microsoft word.?

Together with a colleague I made a test. I asked him to request three of my private full-texts (i.e files already stored in ResearchGate, but not publicly accessible) of different sizes (9, 20 and 89 MB). In all three cases this worked properly - I could send him the files in the replies to his full-text requests, and he could download these. Then I sent him the largest file (89 MB) in a message (using the "Message" button), uploading it from my computer into the message. This also worked properly. But I was not able to upload this file into another publication page as a private full-text (just as a test). I got the error message "Upload error / Error parsing server response". For the smaller file (20 MB) I did not get such an error message and could upload it.

I also sent you a file request as a test.

Update: Thank you Wolfgang for requesting my PDF as a test. Please confirm that you got it successfully today. The few procedural steps worked just I like remembered them a year ago when I was having consistent success sending the same PDF to others. However, a few minutes later I opened the same request by Genick. I was not automatically taken to the same steps that had worked for Wolfgang. I was completely stuck! Then I went back to Wolfgang's original request to see if I could resend the PDF. I was disappointed that I was stuck there too! It seems that ResearchGate might have a refractory period after processing a successful request. I'm annoyed by ResearchGates's inconsistency on this matter. Your ideas? Thankyou!

I always recommend finding way to reduce the file size.

I was kinda able to download the file.

I had to jump a a hoop to do it.

Any way I check the file it about 75 images and they are clustered in 10 files.

every file is about 0.5M thus it should be about 5M for the images.

If these images where produced by a good program and of pdf function should be repeatable. Hence reducing the total file size. I think that total

of good quality should be in 5M-7M size.

It could that you do not have many download like my books (about 100,000

to 250,000 and that is not worth to think about the reduction.) Yet if you producing files that cause problems you should consider it.

I got your file (in a reply to my full-text request) and I could download it without any problems.

During my one successful request from Wolfgang today, I noticed that ResearchGate said that the PDF was 13.28 MB. Isn't that file too small to be considered as the reason for the inconsistency? After my initial success with Wolfgang, when I selected the request for Genick and Wolfgang for a second time, I'm taken to a useless screen that just shows my article listing with ResearchGate. No hint of a request!

Concerning re-sending a requested file: Full-text requests to which one has replied positively are moved to "Research you sent" in https://www.researchgate.net/requests and it is not possible to re-send the file directly. If needed (e.g., if one sent a wrong file), one has to go to the user's profile and use the "Message" button. Unfortunately, If more than one user requested the full text, the name of only one of them is displayed. Denied requests disappear completely.

Genic, Did you successfully get my test PDF (~ 13 MB) entitled "A Review of Nearctic Selenophorus ..." through your request with ResearchGate?  I got no clue from ResearchGate that there was success with you like I received with Woilfgang's request! Thank you Genick. Today I received a ResearchGate (RG) notice that you read my PDF entitled "A Review of Nearctic Selenophorus ....". I assume you received it through your request at RG just like Wolfgang did a day earlier. For your RG request my experience with the steps of approval were so brief & different that I was not sure it went through. Apparently, your request was successful. So now I wonder how many days must pass before I experience the familiar steps of approval that I had with Wolfgang? I find the inconsistency very annoying! This is poor programming by RG.

Peter W. Messer You cannot expect accuracy from RG. Part is their fault and part other parameters. For example, have over 600 citation. RG show only ~100. Well part is RG fault because their engine does not recognize some citation. Some is not their fault as example a individual from Mississippi U cite so odd that way that appear that a online copy of my book got citation not my book. We do not live in perfect world. Even though

I what say that some people going out the way not to cite my work, because I am the enemy of the establishment. This fact cannot remedy by RG. and should be patient and do you part as much as you can.
