I'm doing acid hydrolysis of methyl benzoate for my final year project. The factor that I'm working on is the effect of acid concentration.

My constants are : 110°C under reflux, 6 hours of reaction time.

I'm using hydrochloric acid & sulphuric acid. But when I'm using 8M sulphuric acid, my precipitate & solution turns yellow (instead of the usual white crystal, it became yellowish in colour). Is there any explanation about that? I've attached the photo of the condition.
