Hi all,

I am kind of new in the stat thermodynamics and molecular simulation. I have just started with microcanonical ensemble.

In this ensemble energy of the isolated system remains constant. In a system total energy is the, U=kinetic energy+ potential energy.

is the energy remains constant because potential energy is zero (there is no interaction among the molecules, hence no interaction potential (L-J) is considered) and kinetic energy is constant (as temperature is constant) ?

Is this ensemble is  a collection of isolated systems or a single isolated system?

This single isolated system can have different microstates based on positions of molecules? and all these microstates are degenerate? is this true?

if not what is it then? please explain it.

Please someone answer. I am waiting for the response.

Thanks
