I am currently modelling 15 storey steel structure of moment resisting frame, X bracing and V bracing in ETABS to generate the the fragility curve of these structures. I am not sure how it is possible to check that structure going to fail, therefore I came up with the idea that add plastic hinges to my beams and column to find out if structure withstand with conditions I provided

material nonlinearity and geometry nonlinearity is the two important issue effecting modelled behaviour of structure. You can define material nonlinearity with modelling plastic hinge ( concentrated hinge of fiber hinge). But, to determine damage state of structure" slight, moderate, large and collapse " you need some more definition about the performance of the structure. there are some approach, you can determine the damage state depends on, ductility, top displacement, and plastic rotation. please chech the HAZUS for fragility curve of SAC FEMA steel building.
