The word "sustainability" in German ("Nachhaltigkeit") was used for the first time in the field of forestry. If new trees are plant where it has been cut down, it is no problem, when you use the wood for such a long periode, that the other one gets as big as the old one. E.G. in Austria wood is very popular for building but still there grows more wood in the forests than it is used.
Building materials as concrete, steel, bricks, etc. need a lot CO2 for production.
In Europe "little" skyscrape (up to 50m I think) are planed or being raised in near future. There are a lot of strategies against fire e.g. over-dimensioning is often used in smaller buildings.
1)availability of resources: its obvious that the majority of Australia's territory is covered with huge trees. therefore the demand for relying on other materials such as steel or cement reduces significantly. and subsequently, the financial advantages of procurement would be high
2)Sustainability: in comparison with steel or concrete it is more environmentally friendly
3) project time saving: in comparison with concrete it takes less time to be implemented (due to nature of cement, according to various climate condition it needs more time to be concreted.

-The ozone layer is stabelized. The prognosis are it will have recovered 1980 levels by mid-21.st century. Measurements suggest recovery is already in progress.
-The problem was chlorid and bromide. Even though combined in hydrocarbons, the two forementioned are the active substances. The use of Wood was no issue in the ozon depletion agreements.
