Interesting observation, but hurricanes respond to local conditions in the ocean and can't have an effect across the globe, I would think. Hurricanes just "export" excess of heat away from where it is very hot.
Looking at hurricanes from the point of view of dissipative structures, and comparing with the macroscopic analogous structures I saw in isolated retinas, I believe that the coupling among elements in hurricanes is looser than at the CNS and heart, therefor I agree with Michael Issigonis, local effects dominate these patterns, global effects will be less important in hurricanes strenght and pathways
