Tensile test was performed on a T40 (40mm diameter) mild steel rebar using universal testing machine. From the Stress-Strain Curve, the Young's modulus was estimated to be ~70GPa which was much lower than the theoretical value ~200GPa. Is it due to slippage at gripping on the ribs of rebar?
